‘Parkland-Made’ Local Food Initiative
‘Harvesting our local good potential through the collaboration of community and business’.
From September 19-24th, the Parkland Agriculture Resource Co-op (PARC) formally begun its first round of consultations with a variety of local stakeholders from across the region; including farmers, processors, food-chain businesses, community groups and residents.
Local people are interested in knowing where their food comes from and there is strong public support for the region to develop its own unique ‘Parkland-Made’ food branding image. There is a sense of community pride knowing that there are local sources of food available and people do recognize the potential economic benefits that a local food initiative will bring.
The consultation process will continue in the communities of Roblin, Grandview, Gilbert Plains, Ethelbert and Dauphin until December 15th 2014, which will assist to develop the framework of a local food initiative.
Local Food surveys are also being conducted.
If you would like to complete a survey, e-mail your comments and suggestions to PARC, meet with PARC, host a focus group at your school, agency, business, or group, please call PARC at 204-546-2915, e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit our website www.parklandmanitoba.ca
